At Crossland & Bodie Dental , we’re not just a dental practice, we’re a family, deeply rooted in the heart of Charleston. What began with Dr. Steve Crossland, a Navy veteran, wasn’t just about teeth, it was about creating a place where people felt genuinely cared for.
His vision was simple: treat patients like family, not numbers. And from that vision grew a story of connection, loyalty, and community that has spanned generations.
Dr. Crossland’s dream was always bigger than just running a practice. He wanted to build a place where faith, family, and integrity were at the core of everything.
It was never just about dentistry, it was about earning trust, creating bonds, and being there for patients in a way that felt personal. And for over 30 years, that’s exactly what’s happened.
BODIE FAMILY
CROSSLAND FAMILY
At Crossland & Bodie Dental, we’re more than a dental office, we’re family, deeply rooted in Charleston. Dr. Steve Crossland, a Navy veteran, founded the practice with a simple yet meaningful vision: treat every patient like family. That vision has blossomed into a legacy of trust, connection, and care that spans generations.
What began as Dr. Crossland’s solo mission grew into a true family story. Dixie Bodie, one of his dedicated dental assistants for over 20 years, brought her son, Dr. David Bodie, into the fold. Once a patient himself, David became a dentist and eventually a partner, carrying forward the tradition of compassionate care.
Dr. Crossland’s son, Dr. Nick Crossland, followed in his father’s footsteps, serving as a Navy dentist before joining the practice as a partner in 2023. Together, this team has built a generational legacy grounded in faith, family, and integrity.
For over 30 years, we’ve had the honor of caring for Charleston’s families, grandparents, parents, and children alike—with the same trusted, familiar team. At Crossland & Bodie, it’s never just about dentistry, it’s about building lifelong relationships and making every patient feel like part of the family.

I LOVE GOD, MY COUNTRY, MY FAMILY + DENTISTRY.
Those are the principles and the priorities that I started this business with over 30 years ago. They still hold true today, and they will be the cornerstones of this business FOREVER-Which will be a Long, Long time. I have the honor of working with my son, Nick, and David-hand-picked men of integrity, that I know will continue these principles.
David, Nick, and I own the practice-we are not owned by a corporation; so, we have no outside pressure influencing our patient care and creating a friendly work environment. I have hired a great staff. Most of the employees stay with us for decades. I look forward to getting up and going to work more than I ever have before. I hope my staff likes working with me as much as I love working with them. I am also privileged to have seen generations of families that are patients. I like the stability of staff and patients, truly.
My life has been great! Grew up in Greer, accepted Jesus at an early age, South Carolina, graduated from Furman in “81, MUSC in “85, retired United States Navy Dental Corp in 2007, started Crossland Dentistry in 1992.
In my spare time, I have raised six children, been heavily involved in church, been addicted to nearly every sport (except golf), have hunted and fished all over the world-And I am now in the running to become the greatest “POP-POP” ever with my grands. I look forward to meeting all of you!
